Cup CardFARMINGDALE, NY - The first session of Foursomes pairings are out! Before you react (or overreact), it is important to note that the United States has led after the first session in seven of the last eight Ryder Cup matches. What we do from there... For the record, Session 1 - Foursomes:
Please click the "How to Watch?" link below for all up-to-minute coverage updates. Speaking of updates, the weather has been miserable today. A little over 0.45 inches of rain have fallen on the golf course. Before the precipitation, The Black was playing firm. Long Island has not experienced significant rainfall recently. Total rainfall for September to date is 1.53". Based upon my on-site observations, the wet weather we are receiving today will only make the match more exciting. Friday may play a little softer, but overall, the conditions are perfect for scoring, volatility, and overall entertainment. 45th Ryder Cup starts in...If you are just catching up this week, Read The Line published two unique Ryder Cup features for Golf Digest. My overall "live" betting strategy for Friday, Saturday, and Sunday will be similar to a normal RTL weekly cadence. The biggest difference will be the midday additions. For example, the Friday Fourball pairings will get announced late tomorrow morning. Once they are posted, it takes about 20-30 minutes for the match lines to get delivered online. You should expect an RTL card approximately 60 minutes after the Friday afternoon pairings are announced. I expect that it may take a little longer on Saturday and Sunday since the brokers will also have their attention on football. All of our live bets will get posted on X, Instagram, and TikTok. Pick your favorite platform to follow. Here are my first live action bets for Friday morning Foursomes.
Another similarity to a standard week will be the card structure. We aren't going to bet on every match in each session (unless they are really favorable). We will pick the best bets and post accordingly. If you want to bet all four matches in each session and the 12 H2Hs on Sunday, go for it! RTL has provided specific wagering information for just that reason. Take our course breakdown, compare the teammate fit, and jump right in. If you think these past four days have been a brutal wait, consider this. The 45th Ryder Cup matches at Bethpage Black were announced on September 17, 2013. It has been 4,392 days since PGA President Ted Bishop sat alongside New York State Governor Andrew Cuomo on that Tuesday morning. Thankfully, the wait is finally over. USA versus EuropeWhy is the United States favored? All week, we have heard how evenly these two teams are matched. Yet, the betting line is decidedly in the United Statesβ favor. If you step back from the spreadsheets and course map, the United States team has seven of the top 10 players in the world on its side. If you say Jon Rahm should be in the top 10, I agree, but in that case, so should Bryson DeChambeau. On the American side is Scottie Scheffler. Since his last appearance on American soil in a Ryder Cup, Scottie has 19 wins and four major championships. Did I mention he just won the Procore Championship? The oddsmakers also know these matches have not been close. The home team has won the last five matches by an average of 6.6 points! This doesn't mean the Americans will win, but when a broker looks at this team match, that's what they see: an American victory. After watching these players all year and walking the grounds of the Black Course, I agree. I am betting Team USA to win the Ryder Cup. Most golf fans tend to discount new names in big spots, but I believe these boys will pull through. Griffin, Henley, Spaun, and Young have five wins on TOUR this year, including the US Open and a signature win at Bay Hill. The course is set up to FAVOR the American side, and that's the biggest advantage. The United States is a far better par 4 team and can score better than their opponents. Think back to Whistling Straits. Everyone was on the European side and we won 19-9!
βI wrote a preview article for the 2021 Ryder Cup. Hit the link and read the first sentence. I picked the Americans, and it almost sounds defiant. No one gave the US side a chance in Wisconsin. Do not overlook our performance advantage because the European Team has more experience. The home team has won the Foursomes format in nine straight, and the US has won (or tied) the Fourball total in six straight Ryder Cups. I've tried every possible argument to talk myself out of this because +170 looks so juicy. Keegan's organization, our depth, and our duo of Scottie and Bryson are not letting us lose. Lay the cash and take the home team. Watch as the Americans raise the Ryder Cup on Sunday with another performance for the ages. *- the full Read The Line betting card including props, points, H2Hs, etc. is for members only.
