Groundhog Day in Jupiter โฐ
Cruise controlPALM BEACH GARDENS, FL The TGL season is nearly half over. Match 7 marks the midway point as the undefeated Atlanta Drive GC (2-0) takes on the Jupiter Links Golf Club (0-2). A true David and Goliath matchup, Atlanta Drive has won nine of its last 10 TGL matches, while Jupiter Links has lost six of their seven TGL matches across Season 1 and 2. Bad news for Tiger's team as they are desperately trying to turn things around. Mr. Woods will once again be inside the SoFi Center and mic'd up for everyone's entertainment. Tiger's insights have been great for the broadcast, but I'm not sure he is helping the team. Jupiter Links still struggles when it comes to Hammer strategy and putting. Two keys that their opponents from Atlanta seem to do better than anyone else. The format, course, and starting lineupsBetMGM Sportsbook has ADGC listed as heavy favorites (-185)! The first time I have seen a line dip this far in favor of one TGL team. Lucas Glover is returning from injury, and Chris Gotterup just flew in from Torrey Pines. Will fatigue bother ADGC? If it does, then Akshay Bhatia and Max Homa might be tired as well from their Farmers week. Both starting lineups for tonight's match are listed below, along with their H2H matchups. Two names listed a little further down might be even more important. Atlanta Drive Coordinator, Ben Helmrath, is the mastermind behind ADGC's successful Hammer strategy. JLGC's Coordinator, Rob McNamara, will have to start designing a game plan for JLGC to reverse its Hammer differential. Jupiter Links still leads the league in Hammers thrown and points lost. โโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโ Seven of the 15 holes on tonight's scorecard are new in Season 2. Neither of these two squads has seen Cut the Sails. Gil Hanse's newest TGL design challenges the first two tee shots on this blind, drivable par 4. Hanse holds the distinction of designing our first two holes in Match 7. Stone & Steeple (par 5) follows Sails in the team Triples format. The last time these two teams met, Jupiter was close after the opening nine holes, down only 3-1. Atlanta then proceeded to win six points in six H2H holes! Hammers and the Singles format, that is why ADGC keeps winning. The formula is pretty simple, especially when it comes to the Hammer. Only Boston seems to have learned ADGC's tricks. If JLGC has any intention of winning tonight, Tiger and Rob will need to play the Hammer game perfectly. We all know that with Ben at the helm for Atlanta Drive, extra points will be coming their way. The betting line for Match 7 tells a majority of the story. Don't get discouraged if you don't like the overall odds. RTL has not lost a match or prop bet inside the SoFi Center since Match 2 on January 2. In the last four TGL matches, RTL has gone 9-0. It pays to get inside the arena and see the players practice, play, and compete. Each week, we gain little edges on the industry. Match 7's overall result may seem obvious, but that's not going to be good enough for us. Let's use the match breakdown to determine where else we are going to win tonight!
Match breakdownMatch 7Winning inside the SoFi Center comes down to a couple of very basic golf skills. The first is a little obvious, and that's putting. Match play has always favored those with a reliable flatstick. The Atlanta Drive is ranked third in short putts (under 10') while Jupiter Links is ranked sixth (or last). Neither team has excelled at mid-range putts this season, but we all know Billy Horschel has a flair for making the occasional 30-footer! Couple ADGC's putter advantage with the best short game in the league, and JLGC is really in trouble. Tonight's scorecard has an average GIR success rate of 65% across the 15 holes. Both teams are going to need their scrambling skills at some point. I mentioned Atlanta Drive ranks first, but what about Jupiter Links? JLGC is fifth in getting up and down with a 57% success rate. That's a huge edge in the Greenzone for the boys from Buckhead. Another key factor for the heavy underdogs from Jupiter is Hammer play. Atlanta Drive is ranked first in points won, while Jupiter Links is ranked first in Hammers thrown. JLGC has tossed six Hammers in two matches and won three of them. Atlanta Drive has thrown four (two fewer) and won all four. The point differential disparity is even worse. Atlanta Drive has won six Hammer points and lost four for a +2 differential (ranked second). Conversely, Jupiter Links has won four points via the Hammer and lost eight! That's a -4 point differential. An absolute killer when it comes to winning. One of the key areas everyone uses the Hammer is Singles. ADGC leads the TGL in H2H points won with seven; JLGC has three. Jupiter Links has dramatically improved their ball striking in Season 2. Their goal must be to keep it tied (or lead) going into Singles. Hold on to those Hammers and then attack on the back six holes. Those Singles matchups are pretty even from a ball speed perspective. This is one of the shortest courses we have seen in Season 2. That helps Jupiter Links tremendously. Fairways are historically hard to hit across these 15 tests. Find the short grass and start to put pressure on Atlanta Drive. When you see a 60/40 opportunity, throw the Hammer. Try to beat Atlanta Drive at their own game. Singles and Hammers, those are the keys. Here's my breakdown of the H2Hs.
Atlanta Drive GC is winning Match 7. I know, I know, thanks. As you read through our narrative, there are clues to where our live betting wins will come from. I'm leaning on ADGC to lead after the first six holes. Kevin Kisner could not even reach the ramp on Cenote, and JLGC has him teeing off there again! ADGC will have more points after nine holes and win more points in Singles. Those are just a couple of examples of how we will extend our 9-0 streak.
