Drops of Jupiter 🌴

Straight facts

PALM BEACH GARDENS, FL

It all comes down to this. The final week of TGL's Season 2 leads with two playoff spots available. The Atlanta Drive Golf Club has clinched a playoff spot alongside Boston Common Golf. Quite the turnaround by the Beantown Boys; they looked poised to finish TGL 2.0 as the number one contender to take home the SoFi Cup! Instead of four matches in two days, the schedule shows three matches in three days, starting with what the marketing team was hoping would be Rory versus Tiger. Sunday, March 1, Boston Common Golf (3-1) goes up against the Jupiter Links Golf Club (1-2) at 9:00 pm ET on ESPN. Similar to BCG's situation a week ago, JLGC has a game in hand against the field as they fight for a playoff spot. Monday, March 2, the New York Golf Club (1-3) comes off two losses last Tuesday and takes on that massive Los Angeles Golf Club (2-2) lineup at 7:00 pm on ESPN 2. The final regular-season match of Season 2 will take place on Tuesday, March 3, between the Jupiter Links GC and The Bay Golf Club (2-2) at 9:00 pm ET on ESPN.

The lineups for the final match will not be released until Monday, March 2. Jupiter Links wants to keep their (lineup) cards close to the chest. The fact is, if one player struggles, they need to make a switch after Sunday night. Since JLGC is the only team with two matches remaining, they can make a change if needed. All four teams have a chance to get into the playoffs. If LAGC wins, they are in. Jupiter Links has to win both, and they are in. The other teams need to win and then hope they have the tiebreaker in their favor. If Boston wins or suffers an overtime loss, they will become the first seed in the SoFi Cup playoffs.

The courses

A glance at the scorecards for Sunday and Monday night, and most would think these two courses are similar. Both are 5,900 yards long and play to a par of 60. That's where the similarities end. Four of the six Singles holes on the Match 13 card are new in Season 2. Tom Kim, in his Season 2 debut, is playing one of them, and that happens to be the final hole of the night! Match 14's card has registered 43 penalties throughout Season 1 and 2. Seven of those holes are new in 2026. Talk about a volatile layout. Monday's tussle participants had better be careful where they land their golf ball. Players are hitting the fairway on Match 13's card 56% of the time. That's the lowest rate of the season by at least four or five percent. Keep an eye on Driving Accuracy in that match! Match 14 has the tougher set of greens to hit. The field only manages to secure those GIRs 63% of the time. I bring this information up weekly, not just because it makes a difference in the matchups, but to give the fan more perspective. TGL can be a choppy viewing experience, going from the screen to the green. By conventionally describing the course, golfers can better appreciate the challenge these players face from hole to hole.

Match 13 order of play and Singles matchups!

  • Boston Common Golf (-155): Rory McIlroy, Hideki Matsuyama, Keegan Bradley
  • Jupiter Links GC (+125): Akshay Bhatia, Max Homa, Tom Kim
  • Boston Common Golf has the honor
  • Rory McIlroy versus Akshay Bhatia (Holes 10, 13)
  • Hideki Matsuyama versus Max Homa (Holes 11, 14)
  • Keegan Bradley versus Tom Kim (Holes 12, 15)
  • Team managers: Niall O'Connor (BCG), Rob McNamara
  • Sitting out Adam Scott (BCG), Tiger Woods, Kevin Kisner (JLGC)

Match 13

Rory McIlroy faced off against Chris Gotterup in Singles last week. In Match 13, McIlroy gets another young talent in Akshay Bhatia. The matchups are the best part of breaking down the TGL. Most players get 18 holes to face off against their heroes, Akshay gets two H2H holes and about eight or nine shots in Triples. Talk about having to perform in the moment. Boston Common has a stacked team going against JLGC. Rory versus anyone, Hideki Matsuyama with four top 13 results in five starts this season, and Keegan Bradley lined up against Tom Kim. Bradley is the only TGL player who has played every match for his team. Who's surprised? Nobody. Tom Kim is making his Season 2 debut in March and has not had one finish inside the top 34 in 2026. At the Cognizant Classic, Kim made the cut on the number. Going to be tough to find much practice time playing PGA National all weekend.

Boston Common leads the TGL in Driving Distance AND Accuracy. I mentioned in the course opening how difficult it is to hit the fairway on these 10 tee shots. This aspect of the game alone will give BCG a significant edge. These are world-class players and can find the fairway. Bhatia, Homa, and Kim all have at least two PGA TOUR wins, so the ability is there to challenge BCG. My biggest concern for Jupiter Links’ playoff hopes comes on the putting surfaces. JLGC is ranked last (sixth) in short and mid-range putt efficiency. The South Florida home team has yet to make a putt between 10 and 30 feet this season! We all question player motivation when it comes to simulator golf. Jupiter Links had one win last year, overtime against Boston Common. Keegan and the crew have to be motivated to crush these guys after they didn’t win one match in Season 1. Not to mention, Tiger Woods will be inside the SoFi Center watching. These three BCG guys have lost to Tiger more times than they can count. Getting one in the win column against the GOAT is always important.

  • All eyes will be on McIlroy versus Bhatia, especially when they play Stinger (Hole 13) H2H. The key individual matchup comes in the emotional pairing of Tom Kim and Keegan Bradley. Kim is making his Season 2 debut with eight brand new holes. Four of them fall in Triples, but Tom will close the match on Stone & Steeple. A New England-style design by Gil Hanse, Bradley has played this hole before. Neither Kim nor Bradley has distinguished themselves on TOUR in 2026. If "Tom sim" can infuse some energy into his team and replace a mid Kevin Kisner, this match will be the one that decides the overall. Tom Kim's record in Singles is 2-5-1, while Keegan Bradley has accumulated an impressive 7-2-9 record.

Match 14 order of play and Singles matchups!

  • New York GC (-120): Rickie Fowler, Matt Fitzpatrick, Cameron Young
  • Los Angeles GC (-120): Justin Rose, Tommy Fleetwood, Collin Morikawa
  • New York GC has the honor
  • Rickie Fowler versus Justin Rose (Holes 10, 13)
  • Tommy Fleetwood versus Tommy Fleetwood (Holes 11, 14)
  • Collin Morikawa versus Collin Morikawa (Holes 12, 15)
  • Team managers: Kraig Joy (NYGC), Carl Smith (LAGC)
  • Sitting out Xander Schauffele (NYGC), Sahith Theegala (LAGC)

Match 14

Los Angeles Golf Club was a TGL machine on Monday night, taking down the defending SoFi Cup Champions, Atlanta Drive GC 7-3. LAGC won the first three holes right out of the gate and five points in Triples. Our preview said if you want to beat this historic TGL lineup, you had to win some alternate shot points. LAGC is rolling out the number three (Tommy Fleetwood), four (Justin Rose), and five (Collin Morikawa) ranked players in the world! These three guys were built for simulator golf, where accuracy can really separate the two sides. With this LAGC lineup, I'm not sure anyone can beat them. If they miss a GIR, they are ranked second in scrambling. New York GC is coming off a very disappointing two-loss doubleheader. Nothing was going their way on Tuesday night. In this team matchup, the first glaring issue is hitting GIRs. NYGC is ranked fifth in the league. LAGC is a 2-2 team, so they have missed some targets, but both of their losses came from different lineups.

If Los Angeles sticks with the big three lineup card, I believe they will win the SoFi Cup. They just win so many Triples points. In their two losses, The Bay and Boston Common got ahead of them early. LAGC leads the TGL in Triples points won with 16 in four matches! When you get up early, you can save your Hammers and then use the lead as leverage in Singles play. NYGC is ranked fifth in Triples play. They must reverse that trend to have any chance. One last point, these 15 holes cause penalties. Forty-three penalties have been recorded across this scorecard all-time. New York hits 61.5% of their fairways and is ranked fifth in GIR%. Loose shots in Match 14 are going to be penalized. LAGC's ability to keep the ball in play will be its best asset. Inside the SoFi Center, I think this is NYGC's best lineup. Xander Schauffele just never has looked locked in.

  • Collin Morikawa versus Cameron Young is my featured H2H in Match 14. Morikawa has been incredibly accurate inside the SoFi Center this season and holds a career 5-3-8 Singles record. Cameron Young's Singles resume displays a 6-10-4 career H2H record. Collin and Cameron face off on five holes, two of which are par 3s. Morikawa's iron game is back to his major championship caliber self, and that's an edge. In their lineup position, they will play five impactful approaches. If NYGC is going to win, this is an area where Young must step up and beat Morikawa in those moments.
